Christ-Centred & Church-Anchored
A non-profit organization birthed from a direct encounter with neglected island children in 2024. We operate hand-in-hand with local churches to break cycles of poverty through holistic spiritual, educational, and physical care.
A Generation Taking the Next Step
A generation of children and youth who know Jesus, stay in school, gain practical skills, and grow into disciple-makers and community-builders who lift their families out of dependency.
The Story Behind Next Steps Ministries
How faithful discipleship mentorship, children’s fun days, and an urgent calling on Lake Victoria shaped our mission.
Pastor Alex Messamore from Grace Point Church, Henderson, has greatly mentored and influenced us in the ministry of Next Steps Ministries Uganda. Serving alongside Pastor Alex in Uganda taught us the urgent opportunity to reach the younger generation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Learning by Watching Faithful Mentors Serve
We watched Pastor Alex Messamore enter schools and communities to preach the Gospel in ways the younger generation could understand and embrace. Many young people came to Christ through his steadfast commitment.
Under continuous prayer and encouragement from Pastor Alex Messamore and Pastor Steve Ernest, Next Steps Ministries was founded.

Starting with Children’s Fun Days in Soweto
We began in Soweto, Jinja, by organizing a children’s fun day. We brought toys and games for children to interact together, shared a warm meal, and introduced them to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Dozens of children responded with joy, creating the foundational blueprint for our discipleship model.

Crossing to Kisma 1 & Kisma 2 Islands
Through Grace Point Church and Pastor Alex Messamore, we expanded to Kisma Island 1 and Kisma Island 2. On these islands, children grow up amid alcohol, violence, and limited access to formal schooling.
Several children gave their lives to Christ, establishing the roots of our permanent island field ministry.

Why We Are Called “Next Steps”
Our purpose is to provide the next step to a person who has heard the Gospel and is asking what comes next in life, but has nowhere to turn.
We couple discipleship with educational sponsorship, scholastic materials, and home visits to provide food and family crisis support.
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
One Coherent Purpose
Six interconnected objectives ensuring our work remains focused, biblical, and sustainable.
Equip the Church
Train and mobilize local island churches to be the permanent, long-term carers of vulnerable children.
Care for Vulnerable Children
Holistic physical, spiritual, and educational support keeping children thriving within biological or foster families.
Share the Gospel
Direct evangelism woven into every program, introducing youth to life transformation through Jesus Christ.
Build Self-Sufficient Communities

Make Disciples
Nurture mature, grounded believers who actively disciple others across island landing sites.
Transform Through Three Pillars
Synchronize Faith, Education, and Provision across every initiative for lasting generational progress.
Statement of Faith
We believe that children are precious to God, not a problem to be managed (Matthew 19:14; Psalm 127:3; Proverbs 22:6).
Our calling is to equip the Church, proclaim the Gospel, and nurture communities rooted in grace and truth.
